COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

The JRP requires a minimum of 12 months of professional employment in Australia. The employment must be in a role relevant to a nominated ANZSCO occupation and must be registered with ACS before the employment period begins. You cannot register retrospectively.

The JRP requires a visa that grants you the right to work in Australia for the full JRP period. Working Holiday Visas generally do not allow work with the same employer for more than 6 months. A Temporary Graduate Visa 485 or employer sponsored visa is more appropriate.

No. JRP registration must be completed with ACS before you start the employment period you intend to count toward the program. Retrospective registration is not accepted. This is one of the most common and costly mistakes JRP candidates make. Contact Career Launchers before you start your employment.

After completing the JRP requirements, you submit a final assessment to ACS. If successful, you receive a positive skills assessment which can then be used in a SkillSelect EOI for skilled migration.

The role must be in an occupation that maps to a relevant ANZSCO code. General IT support roles or non-technical business roles with some IT involvement generally do not qualify. Career Launchers assesses your specific role and employer before recommending JRP registration.
