VISA OPTIONS

The Parent Visa Pathways

Bring your loved ones closer with the right parent visa option. We guide you through every step to make the process smooth and stress-free.

Contributory Parent Visa Subclass 143 and 864

Requires payment of a significant second instalment visa application charge (currently around AUD 43,000 per applicant) but has substantially faster processing times of approximately 3 to 7 years. The most viable option for parents who want to be in Australia within the next decade.

Temporary Contributory Parent Visa Subclass 173 and 884

A temporary 2-year visa while the permanent contributory parent visa is processed. Allows the parent to live in Australia during the processing period and then transition to the permanent visa.

Non-Contributory Parent Visa Subclass 103 and 804

The lower-cost option. However, the queue for non-contributory parent visas is extremely long due to their low annual quota. Current waiting times can exceed 30 years. Generally not suitable for parents who wish to migrate in the near future.

KEY REQUIREMENT

The Balance of Family Test

To be eligible for a parent visa, your parent must pass the Balance of Family Test. This means that at least half of their children must be Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens, OR more of their children must be settled in Australia than in any other single country.

Career Launchers assesses the Balance of Family Test for every parent visa client and identifies any potential issues before an application is lodged.

HEALTH AND CHARACTER

Medical and Character Requirements for Parent Visa Applicants

All parent visa applicants must meet Australian health requirements. This involves undergoing a medical examination with a panel physician designated by the Department of Home Affairs. Career Launchers guides you through the health examination process. Character requirements must also be met by all applicants. This involves providing police clearance certificates from every country the applicant has lived in for 12 months or more in the last 10 years.
